With their remarkable looking leaves it almost looks like Jewel Orchids are struck by lightning!
Common Issues with Jewel Orchids
Mold:
The Jewel Orchid is usually found in Spaghnumm moss, which is a substrate that rots fairly quickly, especially if it gets a lot of water. To prevent this, the substrate should be changed/cleaned regularly. If there is already mold on the plant, it can be treated by dipping it with a cotton bud with medical alcohol on it.
No growth:
This might be caused by the fact that your Jewel Orchid is not getting enough light, despite being known for being good low light plants these plants still need enough light to survive! Too little light should also be avoided.
Curling leaves:
This one is very important, with most plants curling leaves might mean that you are not giving enough water but this is not the case with Jewel Orchids. When the leaves start to curl this might mean that you have used a wrong substrate or that it is too moist. When you notice this problem with your Jewel Orchid we suggest repotting the plant in new and dry substrate.
